Canadian house in the Perth Hills

HIA awards finalist 2019

Clients were seeking a Canadian style home which would provide multiple living and working spaces for their family and would perform well in the Perth climate. The home is North facing with cross flow ventilation built into the design. A well-insulated frame and double glazed windows add extra year-round comfort. This framed home also had to meet requirements to be built in a BAL29 bushfire zone, which meant creating a sub-floor wall frame system. Timber lined raking ceilings to the main living area gives the centre of this home a generous open feel.

The Tree Change

It was a joy to work with this couple to design and create a smaller, solar passive home nestled near the bush. Key priorities included plenty of sunlight in Winter months, low maintenance and energy costs and a spacious feel without the footprint. The clients' sense of style and personal touches added to this home's sophisticated finish

Built to Last

"We were really pleased with plans that Phil from Abel Design prepared for us. He was willing to listen to our desires and put together a home that we are really enjoying living in. He had many good ideas on how to design and build our house to make the best use of our block with respect to the layout of the house to help it to be as environmentally friendly as possible and to include sustainable living ideas as well.

We would whole heartedly recommend Phil."
